Cleaning Your Smart Cooker Gasket

Apr 07, 2021

Armed with your Smart Cooker, you can whip up all kinds of wonderfully aromatic dishes like our Pot Roast, Beef Chili, and Chicken Biryani. After you're done with these dishes, you may want to give your gasket a good cleaning to prevent any smells from staying put in the pot. Luckily, there's a super simple way to do so!

Mix an equal amount of distilled white vinegar and water in a bowl large enough to hold the gasket. Soak the gasket in the solution for at least one hour. After a soak, wash it by hand with soap and water or run it in the top rack of the dishwasher. Let it dry thoroughly, give it a whiff, and it should be good to go!

CHEF iQ Pro Tip: Reserve one gasket for mildly aromatic foods, such as rice or creamy desserts, and another for stronger-scented dishes, like savory salmon. We take this idea even further in the CHEF iQ test kitchen, where we use different gaskets for seafood, meat, vegetables, and starches. If you like the sound of that, you can shop for additional gaskets on the CHEF iQ website!
