5 Glazes for a Holiday-Ready Ham

A baked ham is a holiday menu staple. We recommend giving your meat dish a sweet or savory glaze to pack in a flavorful punch. Whether you want to add some fruity notes or a bit of spicy flair, check out our top five favorite glazes to get your ham dressed to impress!
 

          1. Sweet & Spicy Gochujang Glaze 
          Ingredients:

  • 3 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 1-inch piece fresh ginger, peeled and grated
  • 1/2 cup gochujang
  • 1/4 cup mirin
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 Tbsp roasted sesame oil
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp rice vinegar
  • 1 Tbsp fish sauce 
     
      
     2. Maple Dijon Glaze 
     Ingredients:
  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1/3 cup Dijon mustard
  • 2/3 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg 
     

    3. Brown Sugar Orange Glaze
    Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 cup dark brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup whole grain mustard
  • 1/2 tsp salt 


    4. Garlic Soy Glaze 
    Ingredients:
  • 6 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 2-inch piece ginger, sliced thick
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 6 tbsp rice wine vinegar
  • 1/4 cup hoisin
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
     
     
     5. Apple Cider Bourbon Glaze
     Ingredients: 
  • 8 Tbsp salted butter (1/2 cup)
  • 1/2 cup dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 Tbsp apple cider
  • 2 Tbsp bourbon
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon 

 Glazing Your Ham:

  1. For all glazes: Combine the ingredients in a small saucepot. Cook, stirring often to prevent sticking, until the mixture comes to a boil.  
  2. Remove from the heat and let cool until thickened.
  3. Remove any solid pieces, if necessary. Brush the glaze all over the ham toward the end of cooking!
