How to Craft Photo-Worthy Hot Cocoa
One of the best ways to combat the winter chill is to cozy up with a cup of hot chocolate. However, not all hot cocoa is created equal. If you’re on the hunt for an Instagrammable sweet sip, look no further.
Spiking Your Sip
Add some alcohol if you want to take this tasty treat to the next level for the adults in the room. Put in peppermint schnapps to pack in the holiday cheer, or add the sweet orange flavor of Grand Marnier.
Work in the Whipped Cream
Top your hot chocolate with fluffy homemade whipped cream. Make your own version in seconds and save a trip to the supermarket.
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream or heavy cream
- 1 Tbsp sugar (granulated or confectioners)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract or maple syrup
Combine your ingredients in a plastic quart container, and use an immersion blender to whip until the desired stiffness. If you do not have an immersion blender, you can use a stand or hand mixer with the whisk attachment, or whisk by hand in a small mixing bowl.
Garnish Your Glass
Rim your mug or tumbler with crushed candy canes, chocolate chip cookie chunks, or cinnamon for a sweet treat. Sprinkle some orange zest on top of your whipped cream and add a sprig of mint for a fresh, fruity flavor. With all this pizzazz, your hot cocoa will be photo-ready!
