All-Star Ingredients: Winter Veggies

Here at CHEF iQ, we like to work with peak-season ingredients. Not only does fresh produce complete a dish perfectly, but we’re also doing our part to create more sustainable farming practices! Some hearty winter vegetables include fennel, onions, and a couple of our favorites, broccoli and leeks.

You can do almost anything with a head or crown of broccoli. From side dishes to savory soups, this veggie can handle the heat. On the CHEF iQ App, we’ve got a creamy and oh-so-easy Broccoli Cheddar Soup. For those of you who can’t live without Chinese-American takeout, try our Beef and Broccoli recipe. You can even roast broccoli in the oven with a little garlic, salt, and pepper, and have it as an easy, delicious side.

Like its cousins onions and garlic, leeks are part of the allium family. When these mildly sweet, onion-like veggies are cooked with some butter and heavy cream, they make a heavenly sauce. You can also try our CHEF iQ Potato Leek Soup if you’re looking for a comforting crowd favorite. Leeks and onions can be enjoyed raw in a salad, used in pickled relish, or mixed in with your favorite meat dish.
